Green Tea and Weight Loss

Months after pregnancy, my weight did not go back to normal instead I was getting heavier and bigger. It was then I followed a friend's advise of not buying a new clothes to fit my new figure rather use the old ones to help me remind that I have to loose weight or else I have nothing to wear in my closet. That helps. Also what really helps me in loosing weight is mine being a green tea drinker.

Study after study has proven the health benefits of green tea, including fighting heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Now a new study says that drinking green tea may also help fight fat! Researchers say that substances found in green tea known as catechins may spur weight loss by prompting the body to burn calories and by reducing body fat.

Catechins are a type of polyphenols, plan-based substances that have been shown to have antioxidant, anticancer and antiviral properties. New research findings, however, show that catechins may also help burn calories, cut low-density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and slightly trim body fat.

The freshest and best-quality tea is said to be brewed from whole, loose leaves rather from tea bags. Usual tea to water ratio is about 1/2 teaspoon of loose leaves per six eight ounces of water.

It has been said that to get the maximum benefits of green tea, drink at least four cups a day.
